The water quality in the bay sustains a very high aquatic biodiversity. Seals, sterns, otters and salmon are common sights. Rivers and streams traversing the surrounding carry nutrient rich waters into the lough.

Sardini cultivates 12 ha of grazing fields and forested hills adjacent to the lough. For every tonne produced, one tree is planted to sustain the natural biodiversity.
